Stroke
Strokes occur when there’s an irregularity in blood supply to the brain. Blood vessels can get choked with deposits leading to blockage of blood supply to the brain. Sometimes a blood vessel within the brain can rupture. Both conditions cut off the oxygen supply to the brain and lead to brain tissue damage.
Suspected stroke patients are physically examined and diagnostic tests and radiological investigations are conducted. Based on the investigations, neurologists and/or neurosurgeons decide the best course of treatment. This may include medical management and/or surgical interventions as may be required to achieve the best outcomes. Following successful medical interventions, patients undergo rehabilitative therapies.
To ensure comprehensive improvement in the quality of life for stroke patients, Srikarta Hospitals also provides a wide range of rehabilitation services.

Headaches can be very unpleasant hampering daily activities. A typical headache can be triggered by several factors including stress, anxiety or muscle strain. Among headaches, migraine headaches can be particularly severe. A migraine headache causes intense throbbing pain and may be preceded by ‘auras’. Auras are sensations that a patient may have sometimes before a migraine headache. Auras may include tastes, odors, tingling sensations, and flashing lights.
Depending on patient complaints, physicians may advise some diagnostic and/or radiological investigations. Unless otherwise indicated, headaches, including migraine, can be medically managed. Neurologists at Srikarta Hospitals have successfully treated innumerable patients suffering from migraine with medication and relaxation therapies. At Srikarta, physicians also suggest relaxation therapies alongside medication to ensure long term prevention and provide long term wellbeing.
Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a chronic disorder that causes unprovoked, recurrent seizures. A seizure is a sudden rush of electrical activity in the brain. Epilepsy can cause different types of seizures and can be debilitating for the patient. The causes for epileptic seizures may include traumatic brain injury, serious illness or very high fever, infectious diseases such as AIDS and meningitis, and genetic or developmental disorders or neurological diseases.
Patients suspected with epilepsy are physically examined by neurologists following which, EEGs and radiological tests may be advised. Depending on the type of seizure and investigation reports, neurologists suggest anti-epileptic medication. For exceptional cases, surgery may be required. If the patient is compliant and follows medication advice seriously, then a typical case of epilepsy can be very easily managed without major incidents.
